Cleveland Indians receive 8-2 hammering from Kansas City Royals – MLB Recap
Despite winning the first game 4-3 of their three-game regular series matchup of 2012 Major League Baseball season one day ago, the Cleveland Indians fall short 8-2 on the very next day to Kansas City Royal’s at Progressive Field, Cleveland, Ohio.
The Royals’ designated hitter Billy Butler played tremendously and hit two home-runs giving his team to start a new hope for going towards more wins after losing 12 consecutive games since 11th April.
"A big win, we all felt it and now we want to go run with it," Butler said. "There's too much talent on this team to be losing."
Billy Butler gave his team early lead when he hit a homer right in the very first innings while Chris Getz scored a run from second base.
Later first base Eric Hosmer hit another homer to left field for the Royals in the fifth innings which gave opportunity to left fielder Alex Gordon who scored and the score reached 4-0.
The Tribe’s designated hitter Travis Hafner tried his best to push his team’s score little further. Though he hit a balanced hit in centre, but grounded out and at the same time, his teammate shortstop Asdrubal Cabrera scored for the Indians.
However, the Royals’ took the game away in ninth innings when Alex Gordon and Billy Butler hit back to back homers and won the game 8-2 for the struggling Kansas City.
Later, after the post game media conversation, the Indians manager Manny Acta told the media about some of his players’ deficiencies and also explained the reasons of this particular defeat as well.
"It probably looked like Jason was closer to the ball, but that's not what we preach around here," Cleveland manager Manny Acta said. "What we preach around here is you collide going after a ball. You don't look at each other. We have ice. We have a training
staff. You don't look at each other and let a ball drop. Unfortunately, that cost us."
The decisive game of this three-match regular series between the Kansas City Royals and Cleveland Indians is scheduled to play on Thursday April 26 while the series is tied at the moment 1-1.
