Cleveland Indians rout Detroit Tigers 4-2 – MLB Update
The Cleveland Indians defeated the Detroit Tigers 4-3 in the second game of their three-match regular series encounter on Wednesday, May 23 at Progressive Field, Cleveland, Ohio in 2012 Major League Baseball season and won the series 2-0 with one game to
spare.
The Indians played a combined game and never allowed the Tigers to rally them past at any stage.
Before the game, the Indians were more certain as their chances are high to win this particular series against their tough rivals who last year reached the last stages of the competition.
The Tigers always rely on their pitching offence, but this time, the Indians were best to analyse the whole situation as they went aggressive against their opponents pitching prowess and hit them hard and earned four runs in total nine innings of play and
eventually won the game in style.
“You can get runners out there, but you have to get them in, it’s pretty simple. There's no rocket science in this one." Tigers’ manager Jim Leyland said.
The Indians played nicely against the Doug Fister’s fast throws and made two runs while Phil Coke was also hit with two runs and proved no good for the Tigers.
"Without those guys (the bullpen), life would be very tough for us, That was a real team effort." Indians manager Manny Acta said.
"I've been in that situation before and the thing to do is not curl up, when your back is against the wall, there is only one way to go." Indians pitcher Pestano also said.
On the other hand, the Indians talented batters Jason Kipnis played well for his team as he made two runs.
"There's lots of games left, but you feel it, We're playing the team that caught us and dominated the division the last half of last year." Kipnis said.
In the meanwhile, this particular win has proved the Indians’ strong batting lineup which never failed at crucial games since they entered into this fresh season.
The Indians currently sitting in quite comfortable position with .581 winning percentage along with 25-18 win loss record.
