New York Yankees thrash Cleveland Indians 7-0 – MLB News
New York Yankees once again showed hoe dangerous a side they are as they shut out the inform Cleveland Indians at the Yankee Stadium in New York, NY on Monday, May 13 in finale of their two match series of the 2013 Major League Baseball regular season. With
their win the Yankees improved their record to 24-14 and it will be interesting to see if they can keep up their excellent work to complete another important home series victory.
Starting pitcher Vidal Nuno had an incredible time on the mound as he allowed just three hits in five scoreless innings of start. It will not be wrong to say that the right hander played a key role in deciding the outcome of the clash. The Right hander struggled
to live up to the expectations last season but he has been able to turn things around this season. His win against the Indians on Monday was his first win of the season and it will be exciting to see if he can continue the good work to earn a huge pay day
at the end of the season.
"He did an unbelievable job, considering he hasn't pitched in a while," Girardi said of Nuno, who hadn't pitched since making his big league debut on April 29. "He's very poised out there. Nothing seems to bother him. He was ahead of hitters all day."
"This is a great road trip for us," Girardi said in a post game interview. "We played three teams that were playing well. Colorado was a game or two out when we played them. Kansas City was tied for first and these guys are in first. To do that, it's a really
good road trip."
Relief pitcher Adam Warren also pitched with great control and accuracy as he allowed two hits in four scoreless innings, saving his first game of the season. Yankees started the contest on a very aggressive note and continued to put pressure on their American
League rivals, scoring runs at regular intervals to establish complete control over the contest. Indians, on the other hand, wasted numerous opportunities.
