Cleveland Indians send Jeanmar Gomez to Pittsburgh Pirates – MLB Update
The Cleveland Indians have traded their starting pitcher Jeanmar Gomez to Pittsburgh Pirates and received outfielder Quincy Latimore in exchange.
Gomez last played for the Indians in 2012 Major League Baseball season and showed good performance with a consistent outcome. He finished with good numbers and achieved great appreciation from the entire roster.
Gomez finished achieving 5.96 ERA along with 5-8 win-loss and 47 strikeouts. Overall he possesses good career numbers of 5.18 ERA along with 14-16 win loss and 112 strikeouts.
This will be a new beginning for Gomez to play in the Pittsburgh Pirates. His time at the Indians’ has given him enough confidence to start with a new Major League franchise as well.
"We've had to make a series of difficult rosters decisions over the last five or six weeks, When you acquire a lot of players externally that have to go on to the 40-man roster, it forces you to make some difficult decisions. I still think Jeanmar will have
an opportunity to be a very effective major league pitcher," Indians general manager Chris Antonetti said for Gomez.
Meanwhile, the Indians also formally introduced Trevor Bauer in the media as he has recently been acquired by the Tribe management. Bauer last played for the Arizona Diamondbacks but now will play for the Indians from next season onwards.
In the recent past season, Bauer played well with the Diamondbacks and achieved good numbers. He finished with consistent stats of 6.06 ERA along with 1-2 win loss, 17 strikeouts and 1.65 WHIP.
“I think I’m an exciting player to watch because the things I do are a little bit different…I throw the ball far that’s one of them. I wave a black rod around, which not many people do, so that’s a little different,” Trevor Bauer said recently.
Experts believe that now with some recent developments in the roster, the Indians feel quite confident to go into the next season. They showed good results in the 2012 Major League Baseball season but now they will play harder with a new set of starting
pitchers and good batting lineup.
