Free agent Nick Swisher has been garnering interest from several Major League Baseball teams including Cleveland Indians. He hit free agency in 2012 offseason while now many teams are looking positive to sign him with a long term contract.
Swisher last played for the New York Yankees and showed good hitting skills during the entire season. He finished with good numbers and earned appreciation from the Yankees’ top players.
Finishing with .272 hitting average along with 24 home runs, 93 RBIs and .364 OBP, Swisher certainly proved his valour. Overall Swisher possesses career .256 hitting average along with 209 home runs, 673 RBIs and .361 OBP.
Recently executive Vice-President of Baseball Operations for the Baltimore Orioles said for Swisher, “We've been looking to sign an outfielder for our club, and pending a physical, which is always very important to the Orioles, it looks like we're going
to be able to agree to a deal with Nate McLouth."
He added, "He did a great job for us last year when we brought him up. He helped solidify the team defensively he hit with some power. He got on base. He was an excellent base stealer, he did a terrific job when Nick Markakis went down, moving into that
leadoff slot. And he was one of our leading players during our playoff run.”
Now news is coming that since free agent Nick Swisher is available in free agent market, the Indians are making a push to add him for next couple of seasons. One source has also speculated that Nick Swisher is scheduled to visit Cleveland in the next week.
If Swisher does visit Cleveland in the coming week, it will be a huge relief for Indians that they then will try to make him convince to come and join them. Several other aspects are also in favour of this potential deal between Swisher and the Indians.
Earlier Shane Victorino was also offered by the Tribe bur somehow that offered was rejected by Victorino’s agent while at the moment, the Indians are hoping that Swisher will potentially agree with them for a better beginning.
