Cleveland Indians show interest in signing Kevin Youkilis – MLB Update
Kevin Youkilis is currently one of the most talented players on free agency market. He is not only talented but possesses large Major League experience.
Having eight years of experience and with career hitting average of .283 along with 148 home-runs, 610 RBIs and .384 OBP, is enough to impress any top Major League side.
Earlier news came out that some three to four leading teams have showed interest to sign Kevin Youkilis but now a reliable source has predicted that Cleveland Indians are the primary MLB franchise who is trying to engage talks with his agent.
“What we want to get out of Lonnie is a full season of at-bats, That's the most important thing. He's a guy who we think has a great future. Now it's up to him on how quickly that happens by the work he puts in over the winter and how he approaches spring training," said GM Chris Antonetti in detail and explained about the new development regarding signings and trades.
Antonetti added, “We were definitely encouraged by the way he came back after the injury, He showed his bat speed was there. He did a better job of managing his at-bats and controlled the strike zone a little bit better."
Indians had tough moments this year. They had to fire their manager Manny Acta who remained unproductive during most of the season.
After interim manager’s arrival, the Indians’ struggle never ended instead they quickly started to reform the team including new signings.
Their front office evaluated all the players and gave all the possible judgments on each player’s future potentials with them.
After thinking deeply into all the possible potentials within the roster, the Indians' staff wished for some more hitters in the side after their current line-up failed to live up to the expectations.
Meanwhile, having in mind all these considerations, the Indians’ want to sign Kevin Youkilis with a long contract.
Youkilis finished this past Major League season with the Chicago White Sox and achieved .235 hitting average along with 19 home-runs and 60 RBIs and .336 OBP.
