Cleveland Indians sign right-handed pitcher Brett Myers – MLB News
The Cleveland Indians have signed right handed utility pitcher Brett Myers and improve their starting rotation. Myers last played for the Indians in the last Major League Baseball season and impressed with his performance.
He showed good commitment and proved his valour by achieving 3.31 ERA along with 19 saves, 41 strikeouts and 1.22 WHIP. Overall his career ERA of 4.20 along with 40 saves, 1367 strikeouts and 1.33 WHIP also makes him a good role player in the league.
Myers is an experienced campaigner and knows his game well. He started his career from the Philadelphia Phillies in 2002 and later went onto play for the Houston Astros and Chicago White Sox.
Experts believe that it is a great sign as Myers will be playing for the Indians in the next big event. The Indians have a good starting unit but Myers arrival will make things more competitive for them to show consistent results in 2013.
Meanwhile the Indians’ manager Terry Francona is also optimistic for his pitchers. “Having a challenge isn't bad, Trying to find a way to tackle it is actually pretty exciting. And I'm not delusional. We have challenges. We have some things we've got to
overcome, but trying to do that, I'm looking forward to it," Francona said during the Winter Meetings in December.
He said, “It can happen, Once you get good and start developing confidence and play the game the right way, things happen, and it snowballs. Just like it goes the other way, sometimes it goes for the good. My job, whoever we have, is to try to make them
the best they can be.”
Along with Myers, the Indians have some other good pitchers in the roster as well Trevor Bauer, Carlos Carrasco, Jeanmar Gomez. Bauer showed consistent results and achieved persistent results of 6.06 ERA along with 1-2 win-loss, 17 strikeouts and 1.65 WHIP.
Carlos Carrasco has good career numbers of 4.88 ERA along with 10-15 win loss, 134 strikeouts and 1.47 WHIP. Jeanmar Gomez also performed well in the last Major League Baseball season. He remained consistent and 5.96 ERA along with 5-8 win-loss, 47 strikeouts
and 1.42 WHIP.
