Cleveland Indians slip to Boston Red Sox 3-2 - MLB Recap
The Cleveland Indians were defeated by the Boston Red Sox 3-2 in the second game of their four match regular series encounter on Friday, August 10 at Progressive Field in Cleveland.
Red Sox played well and earned a deserving victory. Their entire roster played as one unit and defeated the Indians with some decent game-play.
Starter Clay Buchholz pitched nine innings and allowed two run and two hits along with one earned run. He struck-out six and his ERA remained consistent at 4.24.
"I feel like, in the first five starts, if I missed over the plate, the ball went out of the park, A little bit of confidence goes long way. That's where I had to build up. You can't be confident whenever you're getting your brains beat in every night. I felt good, I was able to throw the cutter where I wanted to, the changeup was down all night. Everything's rolling right now for me," Buchholz said.
He was the only player who stood tall against the Indians' offence and never gave any chance to their batters which eventually proved wonderful for his team as they defeated the Indians with ease.
On the other hand, the Indians’ pitchers did not play their natural game and lost in the end. They all looked tired on the mound and were hammered with big hits.
"That's the best I've seen a guy against us, and we've seen some pretty good pitching this year, This guy, we just couldn't do anything,” said Indians' manager Manny Acta.
Especially their two-year veteran starter Chris Seddon disappointed with his performance. He pitched six innings and allowed three runs and five hits along with two earned runs. He struck-out three while he was smashed with one homer as well on his 5.06 ERA.
Along with pitchers, the Red Sox hitters also played a key role in their team’s win. He added one run and smashed one hit on his consistent slugging .396 percentage.
Second baseman Dustin Pedroia also performed wonderfully and smashed one run, two hits and one RBI on his .411 slugging percentage.
