Cleveland Indians slip to Minnesota Twins 7-8 – MLB Recap
The Cleveland Indians lost to the Minnesota Twins 7-8 in the third game of their four match regular series encounter on Sunday, September 9 at Target Field in Minnesota.
Indians' pitchers gave too many loop-holes and could not save the game against the Twins.
"I faced him a couple nights ago, he jammed me, so I had a feeling he might try to come in there again, And he did and left it over the plate just a little bit. I just kept it fair enough and we get to jump up down and have fun," Justin Morneau said who batted beautifully for the Twins.
Morneau added, "The last couple years have been a little frustrating, but hopefully this is the start of good things to come in September, Hopefully we get off to a better start as a team next year and give ourselves a little better chance to play pennant-chase baseball in September."
Corey Kluber pitched 3.2 innings and received five runs and eight hits. He struck-out four and was hit with one homer on his 5.26 ERA. Kluber was hammered with big hits and proved one of the losing factors for the Indians.
Esmil Rogers pitched 1.1 innings and allowed two runs and two hits on his 2.68 ERA. He retired one hitter and also could not help his team oust the Twins.
Closer Vinnie Pestano pitched 0.2 innings and received one hit along with one run. Though he pitched relatively well but he did not strike-out any batter on his 2.20 ERA.
Not only pitchers, but the Indians' hitters also played poorly and lost the game with bitter disgrace. Most importantly their senior hitters did not perform well and struggled throughout the game.
Designated hitter Asdrubal Cabrera came three times to bat, but did not score any run or smash a hit on his .417 slugging percentage.
On the other hand, the Minnesota Twins' batters were exceptional in the field as they played wonderfully during the entire game and edged past the Indians in style. The Twins will be looking to carry their winning momentum forward.
