Cleveland Indians surpass Detroit Tigers 3-2 – MLB Recap
The Cleveland Indians surpassed the Detroit Tigers 3-2 in the second game of their three-match regular series encounter on Tuesday, September 4 at Comerica Park in Detroit.
Indians' pitchers played aggressively and won the second game of the series.
"I'm not frustrated, I'm not going to change. We've been the same all year. We come here ready to do our job do our best," Tigers’ manager Jim Leyland said on his team’s performance.
Leyland added, “It's not a frustration, it's the real world. You've got to win games, If you want to get to the postseason, we've got to win enough games to do it, but I'm not going to change.”
Indians’ starter Justin Masterson played tremendously as he pitched six innings and received two runs and four hits. He went for only one homer and maintained his ERA at 4.84.
Masterson showed his class and remained calm on the mound in his six innings spell. He did not give any loop-holes and proved one of the winning factors for the Indians.
"Today, a lot of good movement on the ball, it was coming out of my hand well, You have as bad an August as we had, it seemed that September became a relief for us," Masterson said on his outing.
Along with Masterson, the Indians’ relief pitchers also played well and helped their team to win smoothly.
Vinnie Pestano pitched one inning and did not receive any run or hit. He also played well and earned a decent victory in the end for the Indians. He struck-out two and maintained his ERA at 1.96.
Closer Chris Perez also did well on the mound as he pitched one solid inning and did not allow any run or hit. He struck-out two while his ERA remained persistent at 3.51.
On the other hand, Tigers' starter Rick Porcello literally lost the game for his team. He pitched 5.2 innings and allowed three runs and eight hits. He was only able to strike-out two as his ERA also rose to 4.58.
