Cleveland Indians thrash Kansas City Royals 4-3 – MLB Recap
The Cleveland Indians defeated the Kansas City Royals 4-3 in their second three-match regular series of 2012 Major League Baseball on April 24 at Progressive Field, Cleveland Ohio.
The Tribe managed to hand the Royals their third longest losing streak when they ended the bitter humiliation in front of 9,137 spectators on Tuesday evening.
“We were one hit shy, but golly we were into it to the very end. We'll break through. I find it hard to believe we've lost 12 in a row, the way we are battling to the very end. That's a good sign with a young team." Kansas City Royals manager Ned Yost said
for his team and the recent defeat they suffered.
Derek Lowe played an exceptional role in the Indians first win in their second three match encounter against the Royals.
He pitched tremendously well and gave no run in over six innings’ of play.
“It was obviously a tough week," Lowe said. "Anytime you have something like that happen and not being there, it's tough. That's what law enforcement is there for. Major League Baseball knows about it. The good thing is there's nothing you can't replace.
Luckily, no family members were there."
The game started with the opening sacrifice fly hit to left field by the Indians catcher Carlos Santana as Jason Kipnis scored the first run of the game.
Coming into the fourth innings, the Royals levelled the score when their centre fielder Mitch Maier’s hit in centre for a single while third base Mike Moustakas scored.
Cleveland Indians again took the lead 2-1 when left fielder Shelley Duncan hit a sacrifice fly giving the advantage to Asdrubal Cabrera who scored while his teammate Carlos Santana moved to third base.
Third base Jack Hannahan hit a double in centre field on which Carlos Santana and designated hitter Travis Hafner scored two runs.
Eventually, the four-run lead proved enough for the Indians as they went passed the Royals with 4-3 final score.
The Indians’ next game against the Royals is scheduled on Wednesday 25th while the odds still say that Kansas City Royals possess the ability to bounce back in their ongoing three match regular series.
