Cleveland Indians thrash Toronto Blue Jays 3-4 – MLB Recap
The Cleveland Indians’ bounced back on Sunday in their regular season series against the Toronto Blue Jays as they defeated them in game three with 4-3 at Progressive Field, Cleveland Ohio.
Indians catcher Carlos Santana hit two home runs and proved vital for the team. Those two homers were also significant as Santana celebrated his 26th birthday with them earning lots of appreciation from the Tribe’s top management.
"I wouldn't mind if it was my birthday every day, but I would be an old man if that happened, I don't know why, maybe I am just excited," Santana said after the game.
"Let's tell him it's his birthday every day," said Cleveland closer Chris Perez for Santana’s late performance.
Earlier, the Blue Jays have won two consecutive games and somewhat pressurised the Indians. Toronto won first game with 7-4 and second with same margin 7-4. With this well deserted win, the Cleveland Indians closed the gap with Toronto Blue Jays 2-1 in their
regular series.
Derek Lowe, the Indians starting pitcher, held all the Blue Jays hitters well and never allowed any easy runs. He was phenomenal on the mound and pitched total seven strong innings for the team.
The Indians manager Manny Acta said for Lowe tremendous ball play after the game, “Lowe was fantastic. He gave us a good solid start. Then Perez really made some tough pitches for the save. Our defense tried to get us in trouble, gave us a bit of a scare
there. It's a funny game. You blow one when up by three, then save one against one of the best hitters in the game."
The game started with a low pace as, but the Indians catcher Carlos Santana’s homer to 415 feet centre field opened the thrust which later proved winning factor for them as well.
After the second innings, Jack Hannahan made single to centre giving advantage to Casey Kotchman who scored the second run for the Indians. While the ultimate winning runs came when Carlos Santana hit his second homer to 356 right centre and Shin-Soo Choo
scored from second base giving their team a enchanting win.
