Cleveland Indians to retain Grady Sizemore: GM Antonetti – MLB News
The Cleveland Indians’ general manager Chris Antonetti has put recent rumours to rest regarding the possible trade of Grady Sizemore and Fausto Carmona as being false. The team has no intention to trade these players now or in the near future.
It looks as if Antonetti was getting tired of all the rumour and gossip surrounding the possible trade. To avoid the media circus and put the rumours to rest the general manager finally reassured the fans that all of the talk was not true.
“I usually pay no attention to gossips,” Antonetti said. “But it is weird to hear the decision we have not even talked about. We have been asked to talk about our players many times in off season, but I make it clear to you that we neither thought of trading
Sizemore nor Traudo Fausto.”
The team’s management was basically laying blame of the rumours on the internet and how people start writing things that are not true and it gets picked up in the media and puts the loyal fans on the offensive.
Sizemore was in good form before he got injured during the 2010 season. He managed to put in a good performance with 13 RBIs and an average of .211 in 33 games that he played. However Sizemore’s best performance was during 2008 where he had 33 home-runs
with 90 RBIs and an average of .268 consisting of 38 stolen bases and 39 doubles.
Grady was only able to play 106 games during the 2009 season as he suffered from an injury to his left knee.
The team is confident that Sizemore will be ready for the upcoming season as his doctor Steadman has been carefully monitoring the player after his surgery.
“I am pretty sure about his full recovery before the start of the season,” Steadman said. “He is the best among my patients; he has strong nerves to cater the injury.”
The team will be looking to Sizemore to put in a brilliant performance during Spring Training and build some confidence in the team before the grueling regular season begins.
