Cleveland Indians yet to make decision on Grady Sizemore and Fausto Carmona – MLB Update
The Cleveland Indians have yet to make a decision regarding Grady Sizemore and Fausto Carmona’s future. Both are relatively good and experienced players but no decision has come out in the media so far as whether these two players will be playing in 2012
for the Indians or not.
However, according to the Major League Baseball (MLB) rules and procedures, the Indians will have to decide within three days after the conclusion of 2011 World Series. Both, Sizemore and Carmona are in their last year of contract but the Indians have still
some rights to exercise on their current contracts or buy them out.
Last week, the Indians’ general manager Chris Antonetti has also commented regarding both these players and their potential for Cleveland.
He mentioned in detail and said, “We obviously have some meaningful and significant decisions coming, the direction we go with those decisions will largely shape what needs we might have. When Grady is healthy, he's been a very productive. With Fausto, we're
constantly working with him to get more consistent with the start to his delivery, and his mentality.”
Grady Sizemore, who has been playing for the Indians for almost last six years, knows how his career has transformed here in Cleveland. After arriving in 2004, Sizemore played with great consistency and proved his valour with great commitment. In 2006, he
made a six year deal with the Indians, but his contract’s last year was optional and now he faces the management to buy out his contract or exercise an 8.5-million-dollar option for the 2012 season.
Carmona, on the other hand, is considered to be a relatively more talented player than Sizemore. He had signed a four year deal with the Indians back in 2008 worth 15-million-dollars but the Indians hold a fifth, six and seventh year option on his contract
which certainly makes his position more significant for the upcoming season and for his own career.
It will be interesting to see what decision the Indians make regarding both Sizemore and Carmona for the next regular season. Both players are tremendously talented and have the ability to make an impact for the Indians’ line-up.
