Manchester United’s http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Tom-Cleverley-c35218 and Michael Owen have gone on to admit that they were thoroughly impressed by the way Athletic Bilbao played against the Red Devils, following the Spanish sides, three goals to two win at Old Trafford.
Bilbao travelled to Manchester to take on United in the first leg of their Europa League tie, as both the teams looked to pick up a win in the game.
Going into the game, just about everyone expected United to come away with the win, but Bilbao seemed to have plans of their own.
Despite the Red Devils taking the lead, Bilbao went on to turn the tie around and went on to score three goals. With the game heading into extra time, United were awarded a penalty, which gave them a life line, as the game ended with the score card reading
thee goals to two in favour of the Spaniards.
United are now going to be heading into http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Spain-c3011 with a one goal deficit, but after having conceded three away goals, which could prove to be costly.
Cleverley, who was rather disappointed with the result of the game, went on to admit that Bilbao had played brilliantly and the midfielder used his Twitter account to acknowledge this fact.
He tweeted: "Disappointing result tonight but no time to get down with the game Sunday [against West Brom]. “
"Bilbao were impressive too but confident we can turn it round!"
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Michael-Owen-c25355 also agrees with the fact that Bilbao were outstanding in the game, but has claimed that the penalty which was scored very late in the game gave his side some hope, as a one goal deficit was going to be easier to turn around, as compared to
the team trailing Bilbao by two goals.
He said: "That penalty kept us in the tie. Fair play to Bilbao, they are a good side and played well tonight."
The Red Devils are going to have to head into their game against Bilbao with all their guns blazing, otherwise the Manchester based club could be on its way out of their second European competition in the same season.
