Sometimes when I move my jaw horizantally there is clicking on the right side. Is this TMJ? It doesn't hurt, but I don't know if it affecting my ear or not. What should I do? And I am only 15. Will I grow out of it?

Note: I used to have braces. I also used to suck my thumb as a young child.

  1. I have had TMJ since I was 18. I am now 55. Since I was 18 years old I have worn a bite plate specially made for TMJ sufferers. You say that you hear clicking when moving side to side. Usually the clicking is when you open and close your mouth. TMJ stands for Temporal Mandibular Joint. It is that joint that causes the clicking or pain. I would first see a dentist who understands about TMJ and have him evaluate you and if you have TMJ he will probably make you a bite plate and give you exercises to do . I really don't know if you grow out of this. Good Luck and take care
