Hi I'm currently 32 weeks pregnant, but this has been going on now for quite a while. It's really weired, it's like clicking every so often, not always when the baby moves. I thought that it might of been bubbles popping or something like that. Any ideas!

  1. I'm not sure myself. however i tried to find information that may be helpful, and there is none. i know what you are talking about i have heard that too. however I'm stumped. i always thought that maybe it has to do with the sac? you know baby pressing up against it?

  2. hiccups!

  3. I have the same thing going on (35 weeks) and it happens all the time. It scared me at first but then my doc. told me it's just my ribs popping from the baby pushing into them. (Every woman has extra ribs that are flexible and guess why. . . . childbearing!) (guys have them too though. They're called false ribs)or it might just be hiccups.

  4. sounds like your baby gets the hiccups!

  5. hiccups

  6. hiccups.....for me he decided to have them in the middle of the night

  7. I get this too!

I've searched around online (because it freaked me out first hearing it) and found that it could be from the ribs (ours, not the baby!) but it is most likely their hips/knees cracking, just like how we crack our knuckles.

I've told my doctor about this and she hadn't heard of it before, but agreed that it was more than likely the cracking, as with me I didn't feel anything on/near my ribs when this happens. It startles my baby when this happens sometimes and I end up rubbing my stomach while laughing and saying "Awww, poor thing!" because the water tends to make it seem much louder than it really would be if out in the open air.

Cracking joints runs in my family, I get it whenever I wake up and start heading out of the room - my knees tend to make that noise but it doesn't hurt and my baby has never reacted in a way that would lead me to believe it's being hurt by this, simply startled like I usually am!

You can mention it to your doctor just so they can say they've heard of it before when/if someone else says it - it's a somewhat rare thing! Either way, baby isn't being hurt and it gives us something strange to talk about to others haha :)

If it's a steady, more than once 'popping', then it is most likely hiccups where they happen to be resting on your hip or something that makes it sound and feel more like a popping noise. I find that the hiccups sound/feel more like that at night when I'm laying down and baby is resting on my hip. But these happen more than just a once or twice pop, more of a consistent thing that goes on for 2 to 10 minutes. I normally get up and walk around a bit to lull the baby to sleep when that happens.

  8. I'v been feeling the same thing - although it's totally seperate to the baby's hiccups as this one hiccups all the time (at least 2-3 episodes a day) and I can easily tell. I just assume it's the baby pushing against a ligament or my hips or something. I'm not at all worried about it. Maybe it's like when you crack your knuckles, baby's making some other joint crack like that...

  9. I agree with the first two answers. Hiccups!

  10. OMG this happens to me and im also 32 weeks im due 10-09-08 and i hear them every once in a while i thought it was like my water bag poping or something i dunno! strange huh!

  11. Your baby is a giant cricket

  12. Ooh yes definately hiccups! I was so confused as to what it was at first, and I remember that feeling so well- I hated it! lol
