Cliff Lee set for making things right in Game 5
The World Series is almost past the 4th game and two teams have been at it for a long while now; battling out in the field for the glory that awaits only one of them, in the end. The San Francisco Giants have been doing well in the year so far
and it comes as to no surprise that the National League Champions are offering a tough contest to their rivals, the Texas Rangers. They currently lead the series with a 2 – 1 wins tally and with the 4th game coming to a close in their favour; it
seems the side will look to be in the driving seat when the next game goes under session.
The Texas Rangers, on the other hand are reeling in the competition and time is all but valuable in their pursuit of their first ever World Series title. The anticipation was high behind the ball club’s start in the campaign in the World Series but Mr. Dependable
Cliff Lee was unable to shine for his club when the need had arisen. He featured in the first game against Giants’ Tim Lincecum who was a tough rival to deal. The only difference by the end of that game was that Tim walked off with the victory while Lee got
shoved aside with a 7 runs concession
Regarding the match he said, “I was throwing balls over the heart of the plate. I wasn't working ahead in the count as well as I would like. You know, I hit a guy on an 0-2 pitch, I walked a guy. Those are the things I don't need to do, especially in the
World Series. If I were throwing every pitch on the corner and working ahead in the count and they were doing that, I really wouldn't know what to do. I would think I would have to change sequences and change my approach to them. But that wasn't the case.
I was throwing balls over the middle of the plate, and they did a really good job swinging the bat and working the count and getting themselves in good positions to hit.”
Lee will be starting in the 5th game against the Giants and many expect him to perform like a champion. He shares the feeling and said a few things regarding his mentality: “I keep things simple. I expect to have success every time I take the
mound. I mean, I didn't last time. I'm going to go out this next time and expect to have success.”
