Cliff Thorburn and Dennis Taylor ready as 21st Snooker Legends starts at Plymouth Pavilions
Veterans of snooker, Cliff Thorburn and Dennis Taylor, are ready to spark their cues along with other legends at the 21st event of Snooker Legends which will commence at Plymouth Pavilions
in Plymouth on Wednesday, June 8.
The Plymouth Snooker Legends event is the 21st episode of the prestigious event that gathers veterans of the game from around the world back on the baize. The Plymouth event is solely a
single day event where all the experienced players will be part of a tremendous show.
The veterans include Jimmy White, Dennis Taylor, John Parrott, Cliff Thorburn, John Virgo and Michaela Tabb. The winner of this special one-day tournament will be crowned the Pavilions Legend 2011.
The 62-year-old Taylor grabbed the glory last year beating the Whirlwind, Jimmy White, in the final.
Cliff Thorburn is excited to return to Plymouth Pavilions this year and hopes the event will be a great show this time as well. The 63-year-old Canadian was the very first snooker player who fired
a 147 maximum on television in World Snooker Championships.
While speaking to the local media, the legendary Canadian said, "It's great to be playing at the Pavilions again, I really enjoyed my time here last year, and I did pretty well."
In reply to a question about repeating the 147 maximum, The Grinder said, "I can see myself doing it, I wouldn't bet my house on it, but I haven't forgotten. Thank you for putting that in my head.
If the balls spread good, then I'm going to give it a shot. It would be great for the fans to see a 147 at the Plymouth Pavilions."
On Thursday evening, two of the audience will be given a chance to partner two legends in a doubles game as per the format of the Legends Tour. This act will give an opportunity to fans to play side
by side with their favourite snooker personalities.
Thorburn told the reporters about this format, "It's great, there have actually been some good players in the audience, which has been great because it takes the pressure off me. I just let them do
all the hard shots and I'll take all the credit. As for safety games, I don't think I have the patience any more. It's great to meet people who have a passion for snooker."
The event will commence at 7pm approximately at the Plymouth Pavilions in Plymouth. The next episode of Snooker Legends will be held at The Albert Halls in Bolton on Saturday, June 11.
