  1. I'm pretty sure it is c.  I just read Donald Piston's book, "Meteorology".

It is more complicated than just cooler (but temperature is certainly a factor), and he explains a lot of the physics behind air currents, how they move, why they move why they spin, etc.  Some amazing facts and explanations in that book.  He also discusses climate change as this was recognized first around 1948.  I think the answer they came up with back then is the correct one.  It has nothing to do with people, rather with land masses.

  2. It's c. Elevation and latitude.

    Increased elevation = cooler.

Increased Latitude (closer to the poles) = cooler

  3. I would have to guess it's b. Latitude I guess would mean whether the location is in the Northern or Southern hemisphere. I think the north and south hemisphere as far as climate goes are mirror opposites. Right now for example, it is winter there. Solstice has to do with the earths axis, which influences the seasons. I'd almost 100% go with answer b.

EDIT: Are you talking about seasons?
