I'm going to England and France this summer with a private choir that I'm in. We leave on July 6th to give you an idea of what time of the summer. I know that the global warming stuff made everything screwy... but what is a good prediction? Warm, Cold, Hot, Freezing, Rainy, Dry???? anything please!

  1. As another answerer said it depends where you are going. England has a maritime climate so it does tend to rain a little occasionally - OK in a bad year quite frequently - whereas France is blessed with a wide of range of climate types. In Nord et Pas de Calais it 's pretty much much the same as us though further south, whereas in Marseilles it is Mediterranean and in other parts it is Continental - cold winters and long  hot summers.

Take a brolly (umbrella) to England and use it as a sunshade in France.

  2. You do realise they are totally different countries right??????

It also depends where in those countries you are going.

English weather is very unpredictable so i cannot say, but France is usually very warm in the summer.

  3. My experience of England was that there were a few nice hot sunny days, but that they were mostly in between gray overcast days. Take a lightweight rain coast. It's essential wear for England.

Last year they had record flooding and it rained all summer. This year is looking to be the same as they have already had some flooding.

  4. VERY VERY Rainy

  5. Christophe has given a good answer.

England - you never know what to expect - that's why we always talk about the weather! We always hope for a long hot summer but it rains often (more in the north than the south). However we do have beautiful green countryside as a result! ;o) Do take a rain coat - however today 9th June, I'm sat here in shorts and a strappy top and it's hot.

France - the weather is very different in the north to the south. My husband who was in the French army said it notoriously rains on the 14th July which is when they have their national day and military parades. In summer it is usually warm, even very hot in the north but there is always that element of unexpected. The south is more consistently hot the nearer you get to the south coast. In fact it can get extremely hot and is often 30°C and much more. Normandy and Brittany have a reputation for rain rather like the UK (well they are close and surrounded by sea).

I would say probably not cold or freezing - but pack a sweater just in case.
