Has anyone noticed that third world countries are usually very hot countries?

I don't know about you, but things seem all the worse and I am less productive when I am sweltered. Do you think there's any link AT ALL to climate and economic status of a country?

Do you think if Sudan had the climate of Pennsylvania that life would be just a bit better for the Sudanese?

Weird, I know. I just want your opinions.

  1. Yes, I agree with that concept.

Generally, humans have tended to work only as hard as they needed to in order to survive.  And, if food and shelter were readily available, they tended not to advance as quickly as other human groups who had to struggle mightily to stay warm and maintain an adequate food supply.

However, most of the world has now embraced the concept that merely surviving should not be our goal.  All peoples need to embrace the concept that happiness and fulfillment cannot be manifested only from a full stomach and a warm home.

Instead, we can and should now realize that other aspects of life are just as important and just as essential; aspects such as quality education for all, equal opportunity to achieve at our personal potential...

With the world's help, the people of sub Saharan Africa can become proud and productive members of the world culture which continues to evolve.

And, these people should not use climate or past affronts as reasons for not joining this world community.

They must stand up to be counted and we must be counted on to help them rise above their past.

  2. You may not be too far off.  Some scientist have concluded that  progress is more prominent temperate climates.  It is the old necessity is th mother of invention theory.  In tropical climates, food grows all year around.  Clothing and housing are not pressing issues.

Societies that do no progress eventually fall prey to the whim of nature.
