  1. you should make a little step for her to get to the second floor . my hamster is new too . its a robo dwarf hamster her name is lulu . but her cage has wo floors and her food and water is up there . but the cage came with a step to get up and a tunnel to get up and dwn . she wont use the tunnel though . just the step . haaah so try that :)

               hope i helped

  2. Maybe she can;t get up there on her own? Did you accually see her get toher food before?

Lol, maybe she's just amusing herself, playing a little game. Let's climb up and down :)

Make sure she gets some to keep her stength up until she can get up there. If you're really worried, you can stay up the night (or most of it) to see if she goes up there at all.

    Good luck ^-^

  3. Hers somthing retarded, DO hamsters climb trees? NOOO!

You obviously didn't reaserach how to take care of a hamster so he isn't gonna live long or nicely. Hamsters are ground animals. THEY ARE ALWAYS ON THE GROUND! Think about this and modify its cage.

  4. i agree with skittles, maybe sometime your hamster is going upstaires without you knowing.  what type of cage is it? and you should try counting the food upstairs like skittles said, and if none is missing then you should most definately move the food downstairs right away.

  5. Well, if it's a syrian hamster, you might be okay, but if it is any form of dwarf hamster you should take the climbing pipe out right away. Dwarf hamsters aren't adept at such feats. If you saw your hamster fall, did it ever occur to you that it could get really hurt? I'm not criticizing, just trying to point it out because I'm sure you'd feel bad if your new hamster got injured. There have been reports of hamsters climbing too steep of an incline, falling, and breaking their necks because their owners put pipes in their habitat, and recalls of certain hamster cages designed with too steep of pipes. It just greatly depends on the hamster. You could probably look up the recalled cages if you don't believe me, as that's how I found out. Also, pipes aren't good for getting enough air. Small animals use more oxygen on the cellular level than large do. (why their heart rate is faster than say, a human's) Also, if it can't get up the pipe, it sounds like it can't eat, which is not cool. My cage came with an upper level, but watching my hamster try to climb it, I took it out immediately because I saw she could easily fall face first, or get her leg caught because there was a ladder not a pipe, or fall off the edge of the upper level because there was no railing. Remember that in physics, you free fall at an acceleration of 9.8 meters per  second squared, and big or small things hit the floor at the same speed...The one thing that goes wrong is whereas a 5 inch fall wouldn't hurt you because you are large enough to spread the force of the impact, hamsters are small, so they feel the impact more. You wouldn't feel a thing, but a 5 inch fall can easily be fatal if the hamster lands in a bad position. I suggest you take the pipe out and try a toilet paper or paper towel roll tube. My hamster absolutely loves them, and it satisfies her natural urge to burrow.

  6. Most likely she  is going up there at night when you don't notice. Try putting a small amount of food at night in the food bowl and count  how many pieces you put in there. In the morning take the food bowl out and recount them and see if any are missing! If none are gone, then i suggest putting the food on the lower level until she learns how to get up and down the tube. Hope this helps :)
