Question:

Clindamycin?

I applied two coats of topical Clindamycin solution to my chin...

After doing some research I found that this junk can cause colitis and intestinal problems when absorbed into the bloodstream...and could not appear for up to weeks

I am discontinuing use...

But what are the chances that I could develop intestinal problems?

I don't want to be a nervous wreck every time I feel sick or get diareah for the next month

  1. Unless you are bathing in the stuff, you will not absorb enough of it to cause colitis.  Clinda is still commonly prescribed for oral infections and cat bites and not everyone develops colitis.

  2. Very little chance. Pseudomembranous colitis mainly occurs with the oral use of this drug (i.e., tablets/capsules). Dont worry nothing will happen.

  3. It's unlikely that you get colitis after just two applications. In general topical has less chances of colitis than oral intake. My brother has been applying this for acne for over 1 week and he is fine.
