okay so im 15..and im very interested in pursuing a career as a doctor in some sort..i dont want to operate on people or do autopsies on dead people..which is what forensic pathologists do..HOWEVER, i am interested in finding out what disease someone has by looking at blood samples, etc...

what is the job i want to be? is it more a clinical pathologist or a biochemist?

  1. If you are interested in looking at blood for evidence of diseases then you are interested in clinical pathology.  Clinical pathologists are real medical doctors.  

    This training entails 4 years undergrad, 4 years med school, 3 years residency, 1-2 years fellowship.

    Biochemists are more research focused, the do not do much diagnosing.


  2. epidemiologist or hematologist.

    pathologists do the autopsies.
