Fulham midfielder, Clint Dempsey has hailed his sides performance against Newcastle United, as the team went on to turn around a 1-0 deficit and won by a score of 5 – 2 in the end.
Dempsey and his squad started their game in arguably the worst fashion possible. The team seemed to be all over the place and just couldn’t deal with Newcastle’s pressure. As a result, the first half ended with Newcastle leading by one goal to nil.
However, Martin Jol went on to switch things up and asked his team to approach the game in a different manner. This seemed to help the team out significantly, as they ended up winning the game by five goals to two.
What made the game a whole lot more fun for Dempsey, was the fact that he managed to net a hat trick in the game as well.
When talking about the game, the midfielder started off by expressing his disappointment with the first half as he stated: “It was definitely a frustrating first half, we didn't have any rhythm.”
He then went on to talk about the second half and how Fulham’s pressure helped them get the match back on track and eventually helped them claim all three points.
“So the second half we showed a lot of character in getting an early penalty and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Danny-c10193 [Murphy] putting it in the back of the net gave us confidence.”
“Their mentality switched from thinking they were going to get three points to trying to salvage a point.
“We never took our foot off the gas and we were able to take advantage of our opportunities and put the ball in the back of the net.”
Instead of taking all the credit for the game, the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/United-States-c3034 international went on to thank his team mates and their ability to find him in the box, for him scoring his hat trick.
“I get good service into the box and I just gamble, take risks at the back post and hope the ball is going to come to me.”
Should Dempsey keep playing the way he is this season, he is bound to end up being Fulham’s player of the season.
