Clint Hurdle becomes top target of the Pittsburgh Pirates
Major League Baseball is entering the off season and the teams from both the American and the National League are looking to expand their operations in the next campaign. The objective is clear and the time nigh. Ball clubs know their predicament and with enough time to work on the problems, rosters can be enriched and enhanced as days approach for the new season. The San Francisco Giants blew the entire post season open when they made it to the finals with the Texas Rangers. The two teams were not regular featured sides in the year and as they went into the series, they made the big teams realize that problems did exist in their organizational structure.
Now with the off season looming over the days leading up to Thanksgiving, teams are looking to involve themselves in search of players and managers across the market
The Pittsburgh Pirates have recently been active in the market and this comes as no surprise since the team's weak performance in the last few years. One can understand that the ball club is desperately searching for a way back up in the National League but the task seems to be very hard since no viable candidate for the Pirates' managerial job is available. For now it seems the search will go into the next year but new reports indicate that Clint Hurdle is becoming one of the sought out figures at the moment. Foxsports.com recently reported on the developing story and indicated the move to sign the gaffer is going about rapidly.
Hurdle, however, is, at the moment, also under consideration by the Mets for a position as their new manager. The skipper is slated to be one of the favorites in the selection process, along with Terry Collins and Bob Melvin. Clint will be interviewed by the new Mets' General Manager, Sandy Alderson, next week and that will be a reality for the Pirates to digest.
Pittsburgh is under danger of losing their top man to the Mets now and it seems nothing can be done to secure the gaffer. The most one could do in their position, would be to offer him the job open handedly and see if he takes the bait. Hurdle has a record of winning 46.10% of his games. He has a wins to loss ratio of 534 – 625.
