Despite the Aussie coach mentioning Jackson Bird and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/DJ-Hussey-c1380, feels that the national side must explore other options, including his Victorian teammate Clint McKay.
Australia’s injury worries reached crisis point after it was confirmed by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mickey-Arthur-c1969 that Hilfenhaus is all set to miss the Boxing Day Test, and is in danger to be ruled out of the subsequent New Year’s Test after picking up a side injury on day 3 of the ongoing first Test.
The spearhead pacer hobbled off during his 13th over, leaving http://www.senore.com/Cricket/James-Pattinson-c1653 suffered a side/rib injury during last month’s Adelaide clash against the Proteas, which fully tested his side’s bowling resources,  and further left the other bowlers drained due to the extended workload.
With Cummins ruled out of the home summer, and the likes of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746’s list of injured fast bowlers has grown alarmingly, forcing them to test a couple of unknowns for the upcoming Tests.
Tasmanian http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Jackson-Munro-Bird-c65187, and Coulter-Nile remain the two likely options in the eyes of the selectors. The former is the leading-wicket taker in the Sheffield Shield so far, where he has claimed 27 scalps from six matches, at an impressive average of 20.55. The latter has also established himself as a handy customer, taking 12 first-class scalps this year.
However, for Hussey, McKay is an obvious choice, owing to his international experience. The Victorian pacer has only played one Test so far, against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 in 2009, but has been a permanent feature for the One Day side over the past 15 months.
"He's been fantastic in the one-day format for Australia and I think he's just getting back to his best," Hussey said."He's been fantastic for Victoria for many years now and hopefully he's got a few pennies in the piggybank so the selectors might sway that way."
