It was the first competitive game of 2008, yet not one mention of Clinton Gribas' passing was made. His passing is a huge lose to the game. I know he was on a different network to Bruce Mac, but it was being telecast on Fox after all...

  1. You would think they would, but you have to blame it on the people upstairs(management) they tell these guy's what not to say, Here back in Chicago we lost a very well liked anchorman and just about every local channel here did a tribute to him(Randy Salerno) again, you would think they would, I'ts sad when you lose a great TV PERSONALITY, I'm sure Clinton Gribas was an AWSOME COMMENTATOR and I know lot's of Australians will miss him too, I saw video clips of him and he knew his stuff and I'm sure everyone loved listening to him too

  2. You are right he was on another network.    Ch7 paid the their respects on his passing.      Fox will pay their tributes no doubt, when they cover their first game this week, I think from  Darwin.

What really did you want 7 to say anyway, that hasn't already been said .   Everyone who follows the game knows his passing is tragic, at age 32 .    Honestly, what else can be said ?

  3. They will probably to some sort of tribute near the season opener.

Is surprising they didn't say anything though, could be at the request of the family, or even the network.

  4. Yeah, but the pre season isn't as important. Less people watch it and it isn't broadcast to the whole country. It might be on a free to air game, because then there will be more people watching, or one of the games that are on foxtel and channel 10 or 7.

But Im sure he will get loads of mentions and tributes when the actual season starts. If he doesn't, then something is clearly very very wrong.

  5. We saw it on 7 adelaide

he was with 10 i think

    just goes to show you

  6. The NAB game was neither here nor there.

Clinton Grybas will be remembered at a more fitting time when the season gets going.  His peers will see to that when the real football commences.

  7. it was actully broadcast on 7 originally. Fox just show all the replays of the games.

he will be missed but I think right now that we should be looking froward to the footy, not back to the tragic passing.

he will be mentioned probably at the end of the season and may have an award named after him.

he wont be forgotten for a while yet.

  8. I'm sure they will have a tribute at the start of the proper home/away season and of course on the Footy Show in Melb.
