She intends to garnish wages of people who choose not to buy their own insurance.

Some people, simply, do not beleive in the insurance industry. Some people, do not want to turn over more of their little paychecks, to companies that are making record profits off of other people's missery.

I dont have insurance. But I do take care of myself. I have been hospitalized in the past, and was albe to be put on a payment plan for my visit.

The amount I have spent on health care, doing it on my own, is much less than it would of been otherwise, had I payed hundreds a month for insurance.

  1. In my experience, a healthy person may not need insurance, but one never knows when one needs it.

I am not personally involved in US and its politics. I write as an outsider.

Suppose one has some terminal illness. Or a disease that needs operation or prolonged treatment, then there will be no end to expenditure incurred. Payments then will be a burden.

Insurance is for such. Not for cold and flu.

Bless you never have that period in life.

  2. She said she might. Frankly, I don't think that private insurance will fix this at all. The system needs to be changed entirely. The US is falling behind other countries because we(as employers) cannot offer workers coverage. There is a drain of talent going to the EU from the US.

You are fine now. Have an accident and you will lose everything. I have not had insurance at times (that's the way it goes in this country) and I have been very very careful at those times - but you have to admit that it is a gamble. No one plans to get into a car accident or have their appendix burst. This county needs a universal health care plan. Right now the only people doing well in the system we have are the insurance companies. Doctors and patients are left holding the bag. If your employer does no offer health insurance or if you are self employed and out of your 20s - good luck, you'll need it.

None of the candidates have a real health care plan - they are too afraid of alienating the big money - drug companies and the Insurance vultures.

  3. i actually like that,  accidents happen and that is what is going to help you.

she also said that she would only go for the persons who have the money, but dont want to get, that will relieve a lot of pressure from the hospitals

  4. You say you take care of yourself...but that won't prevent an accident. If you have a serious accident, and have to be hospitalized long term, go through rehabilitation, etc. it can RUIN you financially, AND create an unfair burden on the hospital, if you don't (or can't) pay. And THAT raises health care prices for everyone else. Everyone that goes to E.R. in need of immediate care, and is uninsured, and never pays, DOES ensure that everyone else will pay for THEIR medical bills.  In my opinion, not having insurance (IF you can afford it), is the height of irresponsibility.

The problem is that some people can't afford it, and I can't blame those people at all. Insurance IS too expensive. But what you are missing here, is that Clinton's plan will make insurance A LOT more affordable, for everyone,so that it won't cost hundreds of dollars a month, it will be much more reasonable. You can't afford insurance now, but you will be able to...everyone will. And that's a good thing.

  5. Let them try that. You think the riots in LA were bad over Rodney,,,Wait till they tell us that out of our 4 or 5 hundred dollars a week we make,,,that is the lucky ones, that 127.00 of that goes to some fat ins. company that has so many loop holes in it that you end up paying for your treatment anyway. Not everybody has the misfortune of being seriously ill and owing more money than they will ever make in their life.

Whats wrong with making all these companies that get rich off our hard work pay for at least 2/3 of it.Someone answer that please. If I pay what they want for Insurance to cover my wife and myself I wouldn't have enough to pay my rent.Kind of a catch 22 wouldn't you say.

For them to try and do that would definitely change your way of life. Our country would fall apart in a matter of months.

But hey,,,that's just one poor persons opinion, but, there are a lot more people in my position than their's.

  6. It is real easy to think all can afford to pay, when you and your spouse make hundreds of thousands a year.

Massachusettes is the only state with such a program and the base cost for a single person in their 40s is around $350 a month.

    So, lets add this up

    Wages $8 an hour x 40 hours a week = $320

Tax man = $ 50-75 depending on state

Round trip on bus to job weekly = $ 25

    Money left for food & rent = $220 or $880 a month

Could she live on $900 a month?  doubt it.

This plan will convince even more people to have babies and suck welfare.  Really, do they have any other choice?

I am beginning to hate this country, it's politicians and the people who keep voting people like Hillary into power.

  7. But it's for your own GOOD!

  8. You are lucky, my husband had his kidney shut down. An ambulance ride (over $700) and a 7 day ICU stay (over $100,000), 2 day regular hospital stay (over $1000) and dialysis cost an ungodly amount for a normally 100% healthy individual.

  9. You will get that with any of the socialist candidates in either party, eventually. Hillary will just make it happen sooner, rather than later. I am voting for Ron Paul he will shut the government cash register to the insurance companies.

If we don't get a non-socialist candidate soon, we will:

    1) Pay high premiums (company match or no)

    2) High deductibles

    3) Other people's via tax dollars

What is worse is that medical expenses are not deductible below 7.5% of Adjusted Gross Income. It is just another illustration of the socialistic collusion between government and the Insurance lobby.

I have good (by industry standards) insurance and got blasted last year by a 3 day stay in the hospital. I am middle class, but by the time everyone sucked me dry, I ended up paying something a little south of 10K for all of those costs above. It is criminal and unconscionable that this stuff is legislated by government for the insurance companies. They ought to have to compete in a completely free market where the customer would have control. The government might as well just have full ownership. Insurance should be an entirely private matter. If not, it should be up to the states, before it is up to a nasty, fat, diseased, lecherous, robber baron, jack booted, autocratic, centralistic government. It borders on treason to America and her citizens.

Sorry to rant-- I am still paying that off though.

  10. I don't want to have to pay for people that don't have medical insurance........let them pay for it themselves......

  11. According to the article I just read, sounds like Obama feels the same way...he mentioned forcing people to buy insurance for their kids.

If this is the route that Clinton and Obama want to take, I think I may have to reconsider who I'll be voting for, for president. I don't believe in forcing people to buy insurance.  I don't agree with it as it stands for car insurance.  This type of forced plan always backfires on the poor.  Aren't the poor the very people we are trying to protect/help with universal health care?  I'm all for universal health care, but this isn't the route to go...seems to me they want an easy solution, and unfortunately, the easy way isn't always the best. The problem is far more complicated and it's going to take some massive efforts to try to sort through the mess.

  12. This so that the Insurance Industry goes unregulated and still have controlof prices.

  13. The hospitals and doctors are in crisis.  Due to people being unable to pay.  Something must be done.  The risk of loss will be spread over a larger population and then we will have lower premiums for everyone.  If we do this adverse selection, the tendency for only sick people to purchase insurance, will be reduced.  This will be even more beneficial if the insurance cost was based upon your income.
