Clippers continue turnaround with impressive 105-98 victory over Bucks
The Los Angeles Clippers continued their awesome home stretch with their ninth straight home win with their sizzling 105-98 victory over the visiting Milwaukee Bucks on Monday night at Staples Center.
Blake Griffin delighted home fans to put together one of his most impressive performances this season with a game-high 32 points and 11 rebounds for his 39th double-double.
Randy Foye contributed off the bench with 20 points in his fourth consecutive start in place of Eric Gordon, who is under day-to-day observation due to a sprained right wrist.
Baron Davis added 18 points while DeAndre Jordan ended with 16 points for Los Angeles, who tied the third-longest consecutive home victory streak in franchise history.
Corey Maggette played well as he scored team-high 25 points and four rebounds for the Bucks, who saw their three-game winning streak end.
Ersan Ilyasova finished with 15 points and 6 rebounds in Milwaukee's 27th defeat of the season 2010-11.
Andrew Bogut registered 14 points and 11 rebounds while Brandon Jennings finished with 12 points in the defeat.
First quarter recap
The opening quarter showed Blake Griffin doing work as the Clippers shot 58 percent and led by 12 points (26-14) with just fifty seconds left in the first quarter.
C. Douglas-Roberts scored three of two free throws to cut the deficit by two points. However, Randy Foye also responded with two free throws, maintaining a 26-16 lead going into the second quarter.
Second quarter recap
The Bucks got off to a fast start as Brandon Jennings kept Milwaukee in the game with back-to-back 3-pointers to launch a 16-6 run that provided Milwaukee with its first lead of the game.
The Clippers were defensive at the start and got offensive later on with some tenacious shots, taking a 49-47 lead in to the half.
Third quarter recap
Both teams started the third quarter ice cold but the Clippers broke the ice as they went on a 13-2 run to take a 77-73 advantage into the final stanza.
Bucks head coach Scott Skiles said, "We had good rhythm in the third quarter. Then they started hitting seams and went on an 11-0 run. We lost our rhythm really bad".
Fourth quarter
The Bucks continued to struggle with turnovers and let their shooting percentage dip heavily in the fourth quarter, but their stellar rebounding kept them afloat.
On the other hand, the Clippers went on an 11-0 run to turn a one-point deficit into a 94-84 lead with 5:17 to go for the final buzzer.
Griffin made a great out-of-bounds save and found DeAndre Jordan to seal the victory.
