  1. If you board at a barn, get your barn's trainer to show you how to apply a lip chain if your youngster doesn't tolerate your clipping her ears.

My now 3 yr old filly would from the time she was a weanling just stand there out in pasture when I would come out and "scalp" her with my cordless wahls.

  2. get a half clip. only half of there face will be clipped and this will leave the ears unclipped aswell, or ask your clipper about what you could have done, if possible, try just to trim the ears with scissors. hope i helped !:D

  3. Have somebody (a trainer) put a humane twitch around her top lip...good luck

  4. Well you have a few options, spend countless hours trying to get her used to the clippers, risk getting bashed in the face and head while trying or simply use a lip chain or twitch and get it over in about 5 minutes without risking your safety. I have been a show groom and have been at the U.S. Nationals 5 times. I have competed at the World and Congress. Sometimes you just have to use tools to get thing accomplished. You are not being mean, It just has to be done. I have show clipped thousands of horses and never has one held a grudge against me for doing it.
