Clive Cox pleased with Lethal Force’s record breaking run – Horseracing News
Clive Cox was absolutely pleased with the performance of Lethal Force, who broke the track record at Newmarket in England during the Darley July Cup.
According to the seasoned trainer, “He's absolutely fine this morning. He's come out of the race well. I was delighted he broke the track record as much as the victory itself. It wasn't as though the times were falling all day,
some of the other times were quite ordinary, so for him to go and do that shows what a talented horse he is.”
This was the second consecutive Group 1 victory for Lethal Force. When asked about that, Cox replied, “We never doubted his Ascot performance and it's great that he has backed that up. We'll sit quiet for a week or so and have
a think about where we go next. We've been gratefully invited to a few international races later in the year and everything will be considered.”
The four-year-old colt was not considered to be a big threat for his competitors in the July Cup, as rivals thought his performance at the Royal Ascot was a one-off. However, that was not the case, as the talented stallion ran
beautifully and made his team proud at the end of the day. He was so quick and even the best of the runners failed to come anywhere closer to him, let alone beating him.
Overall, Lethal Force has participated in a total of 15 races, winning four of them whereas finished as a runner up on the same number of times. In addition to that, he also secured the third spot thrice in his career, which proves
that he has the ability to fight for the top positions with consistency.
However, the Irish stallion was not winning races with consistency, which was a big concern for his trainer and the owners. There will be no worries at all now, as he has had a terrific season until now. He will definitely be heading
to some other important events towards the end of the year, but nothing has been confirmed yet. It will be extremely important for him to continue finishing on top of the table in order to improve his confidence.
