Clive Cox targeting Prix Maurice de Gheest with Lethal Force – Horseracing News
Clive Cox has claimed that Lethal Force will be targeting the Prix Maurice de Gheest at Deauville, which will be held next month.
Revealing the plans of his trainee, he said, “That would be our first intended step from here, but as long as that all goes well then we'd have time for a healthy freshen up before considering heading over. I admire the way you
guys run your racing and the prize-money clearly is very much better.”
Cox added, “My owners Robin and Alan Craddock, a father-and-son team, are very keen to explore that as well. It's obviously a long way to come and obviously the horse's wellbeing is key to making any decisions, but at this moment
in time we are giving it every possible consideration and are keen to give it a go.”
Lethal Force has really turned the tables for his camp this year, as he has been winning races with consistency. He was an inconsistent runner prior to this season, which is why he was never considered a major threat in Group 1
events. However, things have changed completely now, as his confidence level is high.
After earning some impressive victories at the highest level of the sport, the young challenger will be looking forward to end the season on a high. There are quite a few important competitions scheduled in the coming months, which
will attract some great runners from all over the world.
Although Lethal Force could go for some lesser important events too, his camp would not want that to happen, especially because of the fact that he is in terrific form right now. It will be ideal to continue running him at the
highest level of the sport, so that he can gain the confidence to come out strong during the next season too.
Cox’s trainee has proved that he has got the speed and skills to match the best in the business, but it will be about his fitness from now onwards. He should be in a position to take the load of all these major competitions, but
even the slightest of injuries would shatter his confidence badly, so the work load should be managed cleverly.
