Question:

Clock Picking Up Radio Signals?

Okay so usually when it's really late I decide to whip out my iPhone in my bedroom and use it. Across the room I have a, I think it's brand is 'TIMEX', digital clock. I never really tried to look at it's features- I just hooked it up for the time and I just noticed that on it's back there's also this external thin wire that comes out from inside the clock and lays on my table. (that must be the antenna for it's radio if it has one?) Anyway, I think the clock picks up some signals from my iPhone because when it first happened I heard a morse code like beep coming from it. I don't know if it's normal or what because I don't want to find out that my digital clock is bugged and I'm being monitored. (LOL!) Any help/answers can help me understand if this is normal! Thanks!!

  1. sounds like it's picking up short wave

  2. I think Jean's got it. I don't think you are so slow that you wouldn't know if you had a clock radio as opposed to just a clock.

But stranger things have happened. We explain constantly how the human body can act as an antenna. Radio signals are very powerful and strange, you never know what's going to happen. I have heard valid stories of people picking up radio signals in their teeth! And not just in a Jodie Foster movie.

  3. Sounds like it's one that picks up the time signal from Rugby.

There is a transmitter that update all clocks equipped ,so that the time is kept constant.

Type- Rugby time-into Google, that explains it.

  4. I have a Timex digital clock with a thin blue wire.  If you look closely at the front of the clock, you may see that there is a button for "RADIO".  On top of the clock are buttons for other things.  You may have a clock-radio.
