  1. i would rather buy batterys then spend ages winding up to get enough power to listen for 5 minutes. hope you got a strong arm!! lol and a lot of time!!

  2. They're designed for use in countries where there is no mains electricity and batteries are hard to come by.  A bit pointless to use them here, where we have both!

  3. depends on the make and the quality, like everything it is only as good as the cash you spend on it.

i have a tyco kids type on it last about a hour when fully wound up, it is pretty loud and this is just a kids toy one

    regards x kitti x

  4. If you get one make  sure  it comes with a mains charger as well. We've got a wind up radio you quickly  get fed up of winding the bloody thing up!

60 seconds of winding should give you about 1 hour of listening. You can now get DAB wind up radios but they use a lot more power,  60 seconds winding gives less than 5 minutes use!

The battery life on  ours is good, lasts about a week before needing charging, it's loud enough for normal use.
