Clon Brulee to resume his progress in Icelolly.com Handicap at Chester
Clon Brulee failed to make an impression at Glorious Goodwood last time, but seemed to have a bit left in the tank when sealing two consecutive wins in June this year.
The bettors should not judge him only on his latest trouncing, as the David Barron-trained is well capable of resuming his winning journey in the Icelolly.com Handicap, being held at Chester on Friday, September 14th.
Clon Brulee did nothing special last season, but returned to action with better preparations. The 3-year-old was mighty impressive on his seasonal debut at Haydock, where he faced no trouble whatsoever in crushing the opposition in the Steps Here On 21st
July Handicap.
He edged right inside the final furlong, and consequently ensured the top rank by one and a quarter lengths. He did not rest on his laurels, and continued the good work to grab another classy victory at the end of June. The audience at Chester saw him topping
the table by half a length in the Edmundson Electrical Handicap.
After two fascinating victories, the skilful runner unfortunately lost his rhythm. The Betfred Mobile Lotto Stakes (Handicap) saw him finishing eighth behind Silver Lime.
An embarrassing loss would have shaken his confidence to some extent, but still Clon Brulee remains a major player. The sweet memories of his previous Chester success are still fresh, and he just needs to come up with his A-game in order to thrive.
There are eight other quality runners in the pack. The program is to start the proceedings at 16:25 GMT. The going is good to soft for the 1m2f75y event, which carries a handsome cash prize worth £7,763.
Commend is also a consistent runner. The 3-year-old was third in his previous appearance at Goodwood last month. Sir Michael Stoute’s charge should not be underestimated and despite the fact a slice of luck will be required for success, it is quite hard
to ignore his consistent work.
Whether Commend will be able to outpace Clon Brulee, remains a big question. According to our calculations, the answer is no, because the latter is simply more determined. Good luck to all the horses.
