Question:

Close Contact vs. All-purpose vs. Jumping saddles?

What are the differences and similarities between each? I know what a jumping saddle is, and get that an all-purpose is a deeper seat and doesn't put you as far forward, but the close contact kind of threw me. Is it pretty much like a jumping saddle? Thanks. :)

  1. A close contact saddle is pretty much the same as a jumping saddle, but it usually had a smaller, often a square, cantle and no knee rolls or small knee rolls. Its usually used in hunter circles.

  2. a close contact and jumping saddle would be the same, or nearly the same.  Very forward flap and usually a more shallow seat, but you can find deep seated ones.

and ap is a mix between a dressage saddle and a jumping saddle, and in my opinion a "jack of all trades and master of none" type thing..
