  1. Open stance, because it give you an opportunity to run for the ball. But then again, it leaves you OPEN and your opponent will put the ball far away.

Closed stance, is a bit risky it depends on what shot your opponent  uses and you can't get to the ball quick enough.

Then again, choose whichever suits you best on court.

  2. Forehand Grip: Continental (use closed), Eastern (closed or semi-open is common), Semi-Western (closed, semi-open, open is common), Western (semi-open and open is common)

    Closed:

Advantage: Easy to learn, ball control is simplified, and easy to move forward through shot into the court

Disadvantage: Requires more time to setup and low racquet speed (slower shots and less topspin)

    Open:

Advantage: Slightly longer reach, quick setup, and high racquet speed (faster shots and more topspin)

Disadvantage: Needs more precision to make contact and have control, awkward to move forward through the ball into the court, and wrong form can produce major injuries

Generally, coaches will teach to hit closed or semi-open as your main form and open when advanced skilled or as a quick setup needed shot (return or wide ball).
