I'm suppose to go to a church festival and the theme is the 50's. I decided to go last minute so I need some ideas on how I can make myself look 50's without having to go out and buy a poodle skirt or anything like that. Any ideas??

  1. A long,( below the knees tight straight skirt.  Rolled up jeans to mid calf. High button blouse. Look at some pictures on the internet.

  2. wear somethin polka dotted like a top, with a black skirt or shorts and a red waistbelt, beads and red lipstick

  3. Wear capris and flats with a button front shirt. Then put your hair in a high ponytail if it's long and tie a small scarf around it. Wear bright colored button earrings if you have them or wear a charm bracelet. Wear red lipstick with black eyeliner with little wings.

If your hair is short, backcomb the top and smooth it over and spray it. Then stick a barrette on either temple or a small bow on one side.

    Bop-bop-a-loo-bop!!! Have fun!! : P

  4. Erm well clothes in the 50s were like the clothes in Grease. Just kinda print dresses and stuff, blouses etc.

  5. you can always put your hair up like in the 50's... dont know what kind of wardrobe you have so cant really tell you what to wear since I am not digging through your closet..

look at this example of the hair and dress..this is from the 50's.

  6. Puddle jumpers (now known as capri pants) were fashionable.  So were sweater sets (a short sleeved sweater with matching long sleeved sweater on top)  they wore the sweaters on their backs with the arms wrapped around to the front.

If you can get to a fabric shop pretty quickly, you can make a poodle skirt pretty easily.  Just cut a big circle of felt (which is cheap) and cut a hole in the middle for your waist plus a slit so you can get it on, then safety pin the slit shut and viola, skirt is done.

People also wore those black and white saddle shoes, jeans (also capri length) dresses (all kinds, nothing short) polka dots and light pastel colors were popular. Also, browns were popular.  Think Lucy from I love lucy.  That was then...
