I have clothes scattered from one end of my room to the other. I want to get it organized; I am so disgusted with myself because of my mess. I just don't know where to begin...Some are too big, some are small, some are dirty and some are clean. They are just everywhere. I think I have a problem. Does anyone know any tips or ideas to get this job done before I go crazy?? Thanks!!

  1. First, separate the clean clothes from the dirty clothes. Bring a hamper into your room and start tossing the dirty ones in it. Pile up all of the clean ones. Take the hamper to your washer and do the laundry! Go back into your room and fold ALL of the clean clothes. What you wear, put away. What you don't wear anymore(too big/small), put into plastic bags to either donate or give to a friend! Good luck! Like Nike says, JUST DO IT!

  2. Welcome to my world.

Get some laundry baskets - or garbage bags - and start sorting. Anything you KNOW is clean goes in one pile.

    Anything doubtful?

Put whites in one pile (not delicates)

    Jeans and towels in another

    Shirts/skirts/dress pants in another

Delicates in another (delicates will need to be sub-sorted b/t whites and colors

Wash your white towels and undies in hot with bleach.

Everything else in COLD without bleach or with color-safe bleach.

To keep this from happening again?

You can buy laundry baskets at the Dollar Store for $1. Or "laundry bags"

    Buy 4-5.

Throw you dirty clothes in these (stack them if you have to) and MAKE yourself wash once a week.

Fold, stack, or hang!  Make yourself! And when you take your clothes off if they are NOT dirty, hang them up to wear again. They will last much longer this way.

Take care. And don't feel bad I had to learn all this stuff the hard way too!

  3. i know how you feel... i just recently cleaned up my mess so i could pack for college.

get a laundry basket.  take everything off of your bed and put it on the floor until you sort it. put the dirty stuff in the basket and clean stuff on the bed.  put the dirty stuff in the wash and fold or hang your clean clothes while you wait.  and then fold and hang the rest of the clotes when theyre out of the wash.

if you have other stuff besides clothes. sort it between stuff you want to throw out, stuff you like but dont need(to put in storage), and stuff you want to keep in your room but need reorganizing. used a couple of boxes and a garbage bag.

It feels so good to finally have it clean.

  4. OK, let's get organized!  First start by sorting into 3 piles, one for dirty clothes, one for clean and one for clothes that don't fit.  then sort the dirty ones into color groups for cleaning.  the clean clothes you should fold and either put to the side or put away.  The last pile of clothes you should decide whether to store it or give it away to friends or charity.  Remember that if you don't wear the clothing there is no point keeping it and wasting space.

  5. Yes, I know how to help.

Empty out your closet all the way. Gather your 10-14 favorite outfits and put them in your closet. Pack the rest up in boxes and store them in an extra room or in the garage. If you miss something, go get it out of the box. Go through the boxes 1 a week until you are done. too much stuff just stresses you out. You will feel a huge weight lifted off your shoulders.

    Best of Luck!

  6. First I would sort them by color. Black and blues together, jeans in one pile, red and pinks, yellows, whites, etc. It's easier when they're in piles because you can go through each pile and figure out whats clean and what needs to be washed or thrown out. Make a bag for donations and make a bag for throw away stuff.

I had to do this when I moved and it make things much easier when I got to my new place.

    Good luck!

  7. Don't get to overwhelmed by this...it is just clothes.  I find that if I fold a stack of clothes while watching a T.V. show it seems much less like work and the upside is you can put the clothes away during the commercial breaks.  The clothes that no longer fit either give away or put in a box and store in another room or even garage, if after one year you have not worn them then give them away before they totally go out of fashion.  Dirty clothes go straight to the washer.  Buy some hangers if you do not have enough, they sell them at the dollar store.  It sounds like you like fashion and you probably have some really cool items in your room that you might of even forgot about.  Good luck.

  8. 1) remove the dirty clothes to the laundry area.

    2) decide which ones left over do not fit, put them in a plastic bag.

    3) Next trip out of the house put the bag into one of those clothes dumpsters in the area.

    4) Now you are left with just the wearable clothes. Fold them and put them away.

This will all take some time but think about how happy you will be afterwards.

  9. Wonderful ideas listed by others, now put on some lively music and get moving.  Music helps me get some pep in my step, but no TV, that distracts me.

Keep your minds eye on the satisfying result.
