My dryer worked fine until today. Now when I start it it will run for a few minutes then it flips the breaker. I can flip it back again and the dryer will run for a few more minutes then etc. Do I need a new dryer? Any one know how to fix it I rwally can't afford a new one. Thanks

  1. Its obviously shorting out somewhere, and could be dangerous if you keep using it. Check the plug at the end of the cable to see if wires have come loose. you may also have a loose wire in the machine.

  2. Don't go out and buy a new dryer, at least not yet. The problem is more and likely a circuit breaker going bad. I would recommend calling an electrician to come out and diagnose the problem. Replacing circuit breakers can be dangerous because it requires taking off the main panel to the electrical box that feeds the house and to pull out the breaker. A lot of expose wiring and connections are in there and if you accidentally touch the wrong thing... ZAP! It will be less expensive to try it this way first then to take a chance on buying a new dryer and then finding out the breaker was the problem all along.

  3. some thing is tripping the breaker.  Try running it on no heat and see if it keeps running if it does you most likely need a new heater element.

if it trips no matter what then there is a major short somewhere.
