  1. No it wouldnt. You should go buy some laundry detergent. A washing machine is an expensive item to replace or repair. Dont take any chances.

  2. Don't use dish soap!! You'll have a mess on your hands!

I agree with the answer above, it will be fine without detergent at all.  There is usually enough residual detergent to get the job done.

  3. You could use dish soap or even shampoo either one works, just don't put too much.

  4. If you use dish soap, you risk having some sort of "sitcom moment" where the washing machine overflows with bubbles. Not so funny in real life. You also don't want to risk breaking your washing machine.

I would just wash them without soap, or ask a neighbor if you can borrow some laundry detergent. If you have any shout or spray n' wash, you could add some of that. Febreze also works nicely if you don't have time to was the clothes. Good luck!

  5. yes dish detergent will work. I have found out that Dawn does a very good job

  6. ~~The only thing I would try and use is Baking Soda. It removes odors, I don't know how well it would clean spots, but if you just want freshness, this will do it. Put some vinegar in the bleach dispenser for good measure. They should come out fine, and you don't have to worry about damage to your machine.~~

  7. I would just use some baking soda or even white vinegar. Maybe add some fabric softener though so they have a nice fresh scent. As long as your clothes aren't filthy this should be fine if you do it once, just make sure next time you have the detergent ready so you don't run into this problem again. I'm always paranoid I'll run out of detergent so I make sure I have extra on hand. You could always go borrow a cup from a neighbor and then in return when you go buy more for yourself pick them up a small bottle to show your gratitude. That way if it ever happens again you have repaid them back and then some lol. Good luck. :o)

  8. I think one time I forgot to put detergent in my wash.  But it turned out fine.  As long as there's no dirty spots on your clothes or whatever it should be okay to do it without detergent.

  9. I've heard that you can use powdered dishwahing detegent ( like for a dishwasher ) in the the laundry.  Go easy, though, because it contains bleach.  If you have anything that might fade or bleed I would had wash it in regular dishwashing liquid.  You can always put it in the washing machine on the spin cycle to help dry it and then put it in the dryer. You can handwash with shampoo, too, so long as the it is plain shampoo ( without conditioners, etc )

  10. Dish soap foams, where as laundry soap isn't as foamy. I *have* use a 'drop' of dish soap out of desperation. But.... Too much, and you can have a HUGE mess!

I've also added a tiny bit of Mr. Clean to the laundry.

Next time, add the detergent first, as the water starts to fill, then add your clothes.. Just a suggestion. Then, you'd know ahead of time that you are out. lol

    Good luck.. =)
