When I emty the dryer almost everytime, one of my shirts always has a burn mark on it. I know that it is because the clothes are getting stuck in the gap. Is there any way to get the marks off of the clothes? Thanks in advance!

  1. Maybe you should have the dryer checked...It may be getting too hot.

  2. never heard of this -try setting the dryer on a lower setting, read the labels on clothing as some doesn't belong in the dryer, consider air drying (saves money), and if these tips don't work -get the dryer serviced.  be sure to keep the lint trap clean.  dryers cause a large majority of house fires.

  3. If I understand you correctly, you are talking about a friction burn from the clothes getting in between the drum and the inside wall of the dryer.

I am not sure if you can remove the mark.  It would be similar to laying a hot iron on the clothing for too long.  You could try washing with detergents or bleaching and dyeing to disguise the marks, but chances are that the texture of the fabric (if it is a friction burn) will still betray where the marks were.

I would definitely have your dryer serviced before drying/chancing ruining anything else.

Go ahead and try, but let them air dry. The heat has probably already set the stains pretty well, and continuing to use heat will set the stains further.  I suggest that you start with detergents that are formulated for organic stains, i.e. blood, grass.  I would also add borax to the wash with the detergents. Then I'd try color safe bleach.  Then I'd move up to oxygenated stain removers.  After that I would probably start bleaching and dyeing.

You could also try these techniques:

I hope this helps. Good luck and let us know how it turns out.

  4. It is there because the burn indicates that the physical and chemical composition of the shirt's fabric has chemically changed, it is dark and burned because carbon indicates that it is in an altered state, so now there is not actually anything on the shirt, but instead the change is within the shirt fabrics physical structure which cannot be undone unless you have a science lab to physically undo the change on a molecular level.

Depending on how badly it was burned, chemical change is any change that results in the formation of new chemical substances. At the molecular level, chemical change involves making or breaking of bonds between atoms. These changes are chemical.

You can try brushing or shaking as much of the burnt stuff off as you can and try soaking the shirt in soap and water, you can also try patching the damaged area or stitching if you want to try to eliminate the damaged part that way.
