I have 3 tops that are very stubborn, they've been through the wash many, MANY times... all of them smell on the armpit areas. I wash them together with other clothes, which turned out smelling fresh and clean after wash... so it's only those 3 that still have the smell in the armpit areas, and the smell is still strong too. Any ideas on how to get rid of this? I'm very confused :(

Thank you in advance :)

  1. Washing clothes in cold water doesn't seem to remove smells all the time.  Try using warm water and spray armpit area with a stain remover before washing.  Good luck.

  2. pre soak them  and buy yourself a bar of soap like Sunlight , rub the shirt by hand  and let them stand for a while , then place them in the washer and add a cup of white vinegar to the final rinse.

  3. that 3 clothes probably still have armpit stains thats why they still have that strong smell... getting rid of that stains will solve your problems... there are several ways to remove armpit stains / smells and here are some of those...

how to get rid of armpit stains:

    1. OxyClean can whiten fabric and does not damage most finishes on white fabric.

2.Pre-soak the yellowed garment in a mixture of all-fabric bleach (it is not as strong as regular bleach and doesn’t cause yellowing), a laundry brightener such as OxiClean, and baking soda.

    3. Wash out the stains in about two gallons of cold water mixed with 1/2 cup of white vinegar and 1 teaspoon of liquid detergent.

4.Washing the stained clothing in a mixture of half a cup of powdered dishwasher soap with half a cup of all-fabric bleach may sometimes remove the stain.

you may want to check out the sources for other ways to remove the stains / smell, plus learn some way on how to prevent those problems

  4. If you haven`t already tried it ,you might soak them over night in vinegar and water or baking soda and water.

  5. i would soak the offending area with water and sodium bicarbonate overnight and that should do the job as sodium bicarbonate is a natural de-odouriser (please excuse the different spelling as i am scottish)

  6. I add 1/4 cup baking soda right to the wash.  Put it in the detergent space and wash with warm water.  After the washer fills let it agitate  a few minutes and then shut the machine off to soak for an hour or so. Spin the water out, and THEN refill the washer with detergent and  fresh water and let it go through all of the cycles.

  7. Try adding Borax to your load of laundry it accelerates the effectiveness of detergents.  If it is as bad as you say, I would take a little detergent and soak the arm pit areas over night with the detergent.  Vinegar can also help.  Oh and make sure that when you do wash these item after lsoaking, to use hot water!

  8. Try adding 1 cup vinegar to wash and let soak for a few minutes.

  9. For a few items I put them in a plastic tub, add 1/2 cup of Febreeze, and just enough water to cover them. Let set overnight and the smell will be gone.
