Does anyone know how to get that "wet towel" smell out of clothes?

My kids left some wet clothes in the laundry basket and now all the clothes smell musty! Any ideas on how to get that smell out?

  1. Baking soda, fresh squeezed lemon, & bleach.

  2. Things You’ll Need:

    1/4 cup of white vinegar

    Step1.

If you left your clothes in overnight. Like a lot of us do. You do not have to re-wash. And, sometimes re-washing does not get that icky mildew smell out. The good news is that it's not too late for your clothes or your washing machine.

    Step2

If you want to get the mildew smell out of your clothes. Re run your cycle and pour about 1/4 to 1/2 cup of white vinegar in the bleach section of your washing machine.

    Step3

If you want the smell to leave your washing machine, run the washing cycle without the clothes and pout the vinegar into the bleach slot.

    EASY!

Baking soda is also great to use instead of vinegar. Got a really funky smell...try both!

  3. Try some white vinegar in with the wash cycle and also in the rinse cycle.  1 cup in each should do the trick then hang on line on sunny day.  Good luck.

  4. Vinegar is a good idea, but if you dont want to wash again hang everything outside for a good few hours, that worked for me to get a strong chemical smell out of a jacket!

  5. Re-wash the clothes, and spray the laundry basket down with a cleaner to get the smell off of it as well. That will be your best bet. You can add vinegar to your rinse cycle if they are very bad, it will neutralize the smell and the vinegar smell will dissipate when they are drying.

  6. Nope...theres no way other than to wash again...like 2 times! Then use fabric softener sheets in the dryer!

Also....im about to have a baby girl....and i normally use my regular Tide soap on my stuff....but i ran out....so i used her Dreft detergent...and it actually made the stuff smell super fresh! I kinda want to continue using it on all my stuff! Good luck!
