Clothing Styles in Ireland?

I am an American traveling to Galway, Ireland to study abroad for 5 months for next semester. What are the clothing styles there like and what are some recommendations in general?

My daughters wear jeans, t-shirts, hoodies are big here as are ''dubes'' when u get here go and buy a black pair!, o'neills pants,  can't think of the name but a pair of navy jogging bottoms by the zew zeland sports company

Ireland is in Europe so any normal casual clothes are fine, plus some rain proof clothes

skinny jeans, dresses over leggings, knee high boots - wedge heels, biker boots. The 80s are back, so petrol blue and purple are in. Coats with belts that nip in the waist. 40s style blouses (light, lacy things) pencil skirts. Metalic colour shoes with round toes.

But primarily, a coat that will keep the rain off, abercrombie sweats, anything casual from the Gap. Stay warm, stay dry.

i live in US and spend Summers i Ireland What ever in fashion in Ireland is aprox 6 months ahead of US... so do your shopping there.

Ive been to galway good choice its very nice. make sure u bring a variety of clothes, but something waterproof because it does rain. make sure u have something to keep the wind off as well. their styles are fairly similar to the US, but when i was there this summer leggings were very popular

I lived in Galway for two years so I can tell you that it is nearly always very windy there regardless of the weather and time of year, and it does rain alot, having said that on the rare occasion when there is no wind and it is sunny it is one of the niciest places in the world to walk around, I would be more worried about suitable clothing for weather than style , but the style is pretty casual due to the big student population

When I went to Dublin (not Galway though - wish I had but did'nt get there but wanted to), but I think as has been said ireland follow other country's trends like England, France, America - the sportswear Chav-Townie style (unsure of name, sorry) was the trend like in England too.

i'm 14 and live in Galway. me and my friends wear jeans, t-shirts, hoodies, dubes (dubarry aviators), uggs, zip up patterened cardigans, tracksuit bottoms, everything!

Why dont you check out some of the high street stores online and get a feel for whats on offer in the shops ie. New Look, Oasis, Ms Selfridge's, Top Shop, River Island etc...

The same as you wear in America only the prices are much more expensive, mainly jeans and t-shirts, jumpers, jackets as its normally very cold from October - march.

clothes are generally the same as anywhere else and they change with the seasons. at the minute deep purple is in as is waistcoats, high waisted jeans etc. you'll see plenty of the styles when you arrive and dont worry this country doesnt care what you wear but remember bring warm clothes !!!

Jeans and jumpers - but like, stylish jeans and jumpers. Good leather shoes.

Warm clothes, wool is good. Raingear - no, not umbrellas, the things will be in smithereens within minutes what with the gale force winds that regularly blow in from the Atlantic. Proper raincoats. Hats. Scarves.

Think layers.

Like every where else in the world! We follow the American, French, English, etc, styles and fashion!! Just bring a nice warm coat and funky scarves!! Everyone has their own style, so wear what you want!!

Are you going to Galway university?  Usually people here just wear ordinary casual clothes during the day ie jeans  & jumper.  At night time to go out most people will get dressed girls will wear dresses, skirts, tops, heels.  Remember a really good warm coat, scarf, gloves and hat Galway is on the Atlantic coast and will get very cold during the winter.

think warm and comfy!! my friends and i live in dublin and we wear uggs, dubarrys, canterburys (those new zealand trackies someone was talking bout) abrcrombie, american eagle, hollister etc... but dont forget to wrap up warm with lots of layers!!
