I am a first time mom and I'm not due till march 5th, but i like to know ahead of time.

Being that I'm due early march / late feb if comes early

and I will be living in either IL or VA - depending if my hub deploys.

What type of clothing should I buy more of for my newborn?

Long sleeves, short sleeves ? or a lil of both?

  1. I would go with long sleeves.

  2. You will definitely probably want some of both. Get a few sleepers 0-3 months & then some short sleeved onesies to put underneath if it's cold. Definitely get a unisex sweater if you don't want to know what you will have. Sweater or sweatshirt jacket.

Blankets aren't a good idea in the crib. We've had 2 really bad experiences with them with our daughter and have stopped using them because of it.

You definitely can use sleep bags/sleep sacks for baby when sleeping.

  3. I would do lil of both

  4. Long sleeves...or a little of both. But don't go overboard-- I did that and then I got about 50 outfits as gifts and had a ton of clothes in small sizes and none for later on.

  5. I would go with mostly long sleeve in newborn and 0-3 months. I would have a few short sleeve t-shirts for in the house though. My son was born March 12th in Kansas City, we didn't use short sleeves much until he was in 3-6 month clothes.

  6. Both of my children were born end of April, and in San Diego, but I still purchased long sleeves for that first month (the full body sleepers) and only used the short sleeve onesies others had given to us a handful of times. So for the early March time frame, I would suggest all long sleeves, but have a variety of light cotton for warmer days and flannel for colder days. That should cover all your basics, even if you have the heat on and you stay inside, those lighter cotton sleep and plays will be perfect for guaranteeing she doesn't get a chill at all! Hopefully your husband doesn't deploy when baby comes, it's hard! Good Luck if he does though!

  7.   I would buy more long sleeves....  a few short sleeves (around the house)

  8. I would buy more of long sleeves. Buy a lot of sleepers they are great at keeping the baby warm. These places usually don't get warm or spring like until April or May.
