Clothing in Rome in May?

Hi All!

I will be going to Rome on Thursday and am wondering what kind of clothes to get for the trip. I live in Canada but I am European so I have a pretty good idea, but why are some people in other posts saying that one should wear BLACK in Rome? Can't you wear jeans with dress shirts and shoes... or dresses? Any input would be great! Thanks!

Romans wear dark color clothes.Muggers spot Tourists because they dress bright like parrots.

I was in Rome two years ago.  Alot of the the tourists wear shorts and t-shirts.  The Italians like to wear jeans/dress pants for the men and jeans/skirts for women.  It suprised me when I was in Rome It was 110 degrees one day and every Italian you saw was wearing jeans it was rare to see them wearing shorts.  To answer your question wear what you feel comfortable in.  If you go somewhere nice, wear dressy clothing.
