Why is it that every time i type in "clothing lagoon.com" into my address bar to login to my account they transfer me to gas lagoon? Could it be that they shut down the site?

  1. No, the site isn't shut down and I can get there.

    These are the things I can think of that might help:

    --that you might be getting the link wrong when you type it and your Internet Explorer (IE) search feature is set to guess what you might want and take you straight there.  Try this link and see if you get there:  http://www.clothinglagoon.com/  If you do, then I'd guess that either you are getting the address wrong when you type it or a shortcut has changed and you need to fix the search settings.

    --that for some reason your hosts file has had the address changed to go to the Gas Lagoon - though that seems crazy.

    --that you have a virus on your computer, especially if it happens with any other sites.  This doesn't necessarily mean Gas Lagoon is the culprit, though.  It could just have been picked by the virus maker.

    ================

    Fixing the search feature if you are using IE (personally I hate the search feature and never use it):

    From an IE windows, choose Tool --> Internet Options --> Advanced tab.

    Scroll down until you get to the "Search from the Address bar" heading.

    See if the current choice is "Just go to the most likely site" - if so, that might be the problem if you mistype.

    Choose "Do not search from the Address bar" OR "Just display the results in the main window" (your choice - either is better than "Just go to the most likely site")

    ======================

    To check your hosts file:

    --Go to C:\WINNT\system32\drivers\etc or C:\Windows\system32\drivers\etc (this depends on what version of Windows you are using)

    --Find a file called hosts and double-click to open it - use NotePad when you are asked BUT!! make sure that the "Always use this program to open these files" box is unticked if it's available.

    --BE CAREFUL!!  Don't let anything get changed in here except what I tell you.  If you aren't sure if you made a change you shouldn't, close the file without saving it and start again.

    --Use the "Edit --> Find" menu option if the file is large and search for clothing as your keyword.

    --If you find Clothing Lagoon in there, it might have gaslagoon.com next to it on the line - if so, put a # symbol at the beginning of that line, save the file and try again.

    The # symbol means that this is a comment line for people and Windows doesn't need to worry about it.  If you do have a line about Clothing Lagoon and Gas Lagoon, adding a comment marker will hopefully stop the problem.  If it does, it's then safe to delete that entire line.
